POOLE POTTERY CARTER STABLER ADAMS QB COMICAL BIRD SHAPE 227 BOWL NELLIE BISHTONThis product data sheet is originally written in English.
This Poole Pottery shape 227 red bodied bowl dates from the Carter, Stabler Adams period and is decorated in the classic QB Comical Bird pattern, an all-time Poole favourite designed by Truda Carter in about 1930
It has the impressed factory backstamp in use from 1924 to 1950, the red clay body dates it no later than 1934 and it was decorated by Nellie Bishton (later Nellie Blackmore) during her first period with the pottery from 1927 to 1932
The bowl is a nice size, 3.5" (8.5cm) high, 8.5” (21cm) diameter at the widest point and the rim is 7.75" (19.5cm) diameter
There are a couple of cracks on the rim as shown in the pictures and some staining on the inside of the bowl but it is otherwise in good condition with no other damage and only the faintest sign of crazing on the outside which is very unusual for these red bodied pieces
A beautifully painted piece in a very sought after pattern, these bowls are seldom seen on the market and it would be worth a great deal more if the condition was better so I have it on sale at a much reduced price – a rare piece that will make a fine addition to your collection
