Old Well Point For Hand-Driving a Well (Or Use As A Nifty Paperweight)

I purchased this homemade well point from a man in my community 35+ years ago.
He had used a point just like this to drive his own well in his back yard using galvanized pipe.
The end opposite the point is 1-23/64" diameter (just under 1-3/8") and it is 1" long. It is (he told me) is sized to fit in the end of the galvanized pipe.
The shoulder (at the base of the point) is 1-3/4" diameter
Total height = 4"
He told me that he drilled numerous holes in the first section of pipe for the water to come into the well.
He then drove the pipe into the soil using a sledge hammer (probably with a protective cap, or sacrificial short section of pipe to pound on).
Additional lengths of pipe were added with couplings.
He only had to go down about 20 feet to get a good supply of water.
He pounded a well to have a source of free water for his yard and garden. Water through the house cost him because he lived in a town with municipal water supply.
I bought this point off him because I wanted to do the same thing on my property (I was building my own home on some rural property at the time).
But I never used the point. I had a backhoe dig at a spring. Then, years later, I had a real well pounded in (60 ft and plenty of water). 👍
So I've saved this little piece of hardware for all these years. It was shiny when I got it. It now has a nice patina of oxidation. But it's still solid.
