Hand-Painted on multi-layered foam-core with cutout letters and elements for a 3-D effect
This is a rare oversized piece, as most of the Tower Records Album Art paintings were 48”x48”.
This Iconic painting was inspired by the cover of the In-Utero album, and was part of a tradition at So-Cal Tower Records Stores.
These large renderings of Vinyl LP Album Cover Art were created to correspond with an album's release for in-store promotion.
Customers enjoyed these displays which were hand-painted by Tower's In-store Art Department staffers.
This example was created by Art Director, Todd B, at the Costa Mesa / Newport Beach Tower Records store.
Nirvana's "In Utero” album was released Sept. 13, 1993, and this painting was made for that date.
Luckily, for Tower and Nirvana, Todd B was a perfectionist who painted many different covers during his time at Tower.
Apparently it was effective work, as this album went 5x Platinum! 😉

As shown, the painting is 3-D with the varied elements and type cut out and applied to the background.
Condition is as shown. There are minor surface losses along the top and bottom edges.
These can be left as is vintage, trimmed off, or framed in.
Due to the size, and cost to crate and ship, this item is local pick-up only. Pick-up within 1 week is appreciated.
